Applicant isn’t receiving the request (email/SMS)

Common delivery issues and how to resolve them quickly.

If an applicant says they haven’t received their Konfir link, it is almost always caused by one of three things:

  1. A typo in the contact details

  2. Email security filtering/quarantine

  3. The link was generated via API but never delivered by your system.

1) Confirm how the request was sent

Delivery depends on how you created the verification:

How you created the verification

How the applicant receives the link

Konsole (UI)

Konfir sends the invite to the applicant using the contact details you entered.

CSV upload

Konfir sends the invite using the contact details included in your CSV.

API

Your system receives a candidateUrl. You are responsible for delivering it to the applicant (e.g. via your portal, SMS, or email), unless you have explicitly agreed on an alternative setup with Konfir.

2) Check the contact details you provided

Email

  • Confirm the applicant email address is correct (spelling, missing characters, wrong domain).

  • Confirm you did not use an internal-only alias or distribution list that blocks external senders.

SMS (if enabled for your organisation)

  • Confirm the mobile number is correct and includes the correct country code (e.g. +44 for UK).

  • Confirm the number is a mobile (not a landline) and can receive SMS.

3) Ask the applicant to check their inbox properly

For email delivery

Ask them to:

  • Check spam/junk folders

  • Check any quarantine (common in corporate inboxes)

  • Search their inbox for “Konfir” and “verification”

  • Check whether their organisation blocks external emails by default

For SMS delivery

Ask them to:

  • Check messages from unknown senders

  • Check whether SMS messages are being filtered/blocked by their device or mobile provider

4) If the applicant’s organisation has strict email filtering

If the applicant uses a corporate inbox (common for employment checks), delivery can be blocked upstream.

Ask the applicant (or their IT team) to allowlist the @konfir.com domain

5) If you created the request via API

If you are integrated, the most common issue is that the candidateUrl was generated but never surfaced to the applicant.

Check that:

  • Your system is storing the returned candidateUrl

  • Your system is actually presenting/sending that link to the applicant

  • The applicant is being routed to the correct part of your flow

6) Still not received?

If you’ve checked the above and the applicant still can’t find the invite, contact Konfir Support at [email protected] with:

  • Verification ID (if available)

  • Applicant name and email address (and phone number if SMS is relevant)

  • How the verification was created (Konsole / CSV / API)

  • Any context on the applicant’s email domain (e.g. corporate domain with strict filtering)
