Summary

Konfir is a UK employment and income verification platform that helps organisations make faster, more confident decisions using trusted, source-verified data.

Konfir is UK Government-certified under the UK Digital Identity & Attributes Trust Framework (UKDIATF) and is designed to support verification use cases across hiring, renting, and lending.

What Konfir does

Konfir produces structured verifications that confirm employment and/or income using data retrieved (with the applicant’s consent) from trusted systems such as:

  • HMRC (PAYE records)

  • Open Banking (income signals such as salary deposits)

  • Payroll providers (where available)

  • Documents (where relevant)

The output is an objective, auditable record designed to replace manual verification processes such as traditional referencing and document chasing.

If you’re looking for a definition of “verification” and what’s included/excluded, see What are verifications and why they matter.

How Konfir fits into your workflow

At a high level, the Konfir flow looks like this:

  1. You create a verification request (Konsole, CSV, or API)

  2. The applicant completes consent and connects available data sources

  3. Konfir retrieves and processes evidence from those sources

  4. Results are returned in Konsole and/or via API / report output

Many verifications are returned quickly (often within minutes), depending on the sources used and the applicant’s progress.

For the full journey, see How verifications work (simple explainer).

Verify vs Respond: two ways to use Konfir

Konfir supports two complementary workflows:

Product

What it’s for

Use Cases

Verify

Outbound verification requests you send to applicants

Employment, affordability and tenancy screening

Respond

Redirecting inbound reference requests into an automated flow

HR teams outsourcing reference handling

Both are powered by the same underlying verification engine and return structured, source-verified outputs (not manual references).

For a deeper comparison, see Konfir products explained: Verify and Respond.

What makes Konfir different from traditional references

Traditional reference workflows can be slow, inconsistent, and operationally heavy. Konfir is designed to provide:

  • Objective results based on source data (rather than opinions)

  • Reduced admin by replacing manual chasing and document review

  • Improved consistency through structured outputs that are easier to review at scale

Trust, security, and compliance (high level)

Konfir is designed for high-trust verification use cases and is UK Government-certified under UKDIATF.

If you need details on security controls, data handling, GDPR roles, retention, or subject rights requests, see Data, Privacy & Compliance.
