Handling incomplete verifications

What to do if an applicant hasn’t completed their verification

Pending Requests

If a verification shows Waiting for applicant, the applicant hasn’t completed the journey yet. At this stage, you have three options:

1. Let automated reminders run

For verifications created via Konsole or CSV, Konfir automatically sends reminder messages by email and SMS. In most cases, allowing these reminders to run is sufficient.

Tip: Avoid creating duplicate verifications for the same applicant unless the original request has been cancelled. Duplicate requests can trigger conflicting reminders and confuse the applicant.

2. Follow up directly

If the applicant still hasn’t completed the journey, a single nudge from you can help. Remind them it’s a required part of your process and see if they need any help. See: How can I support my applicant?

3. Switch to an alternative process

If an applicant can’t or won’t complete the Konfir journey, move to your alternative or fallback verification process.

Cancelled Requests

If the applicant doesn’t complete the journey within the allowed time window, the verification will be Cancelled.

  • Konsole / CSV: expires after 7 days

  • API: expires after 30 days

You can retry the verification in Konsole to resend the invite and restart the time window. Retrying does not create a new verification.
